The Role: Business Development Manager (Utility Scale Solar) We are looking for talented and driven people who are committed to making the vision a reality. The candidate will support project development, commercial off-take, acquisition, investment committee evaluation and marketing efforts related to the development portfolio of utility-scale solar projects in the United States. Location/Department Houston or Austin, TX; Chicago, IL / Business Development / Utility Scale Solar Status Exempt Essential Job Functions • Support Regional Director of Business Development to execute on utility-scale solar asset M&A opportunities in ERCOT and PJM; identification, qualification, valuation, due diligence, contract negotiation, and development management through Notice to Proceed (NTP) for construction. • Lead development campaigns and manage internal and external functional support to load project portfolio with high quality utility-scale solar projects. • Develop project model underwriting assumptions in alignment with investment criteria and off-take Origination efforts. • Support closing of M&A and financing transactions as required. • Support Marketing and Origination in the RFP response process for offtake agreements, including coordinating internal resources, and pricing. • Prepare investment presentation materials for investment committees as necessary. • Remain abreast of renewable energy opportunities in the United States and the national industry trends impacting the future of Solar and renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers. • Represent client at national renewable energy events as speaker, panelist and solar energy leader. • Participate in energy working groups, professional organizations, trade shows & conferences • Carry out other duties as assigned. Requirements • Prior experience in RFP response processes, proposal creation and/or knowledge management. • Strong attention to detail and inclination towards structure, organization, and process – as well as the ability to examine, question, and improve on the inputs and recommendations of others. • Highly motivated self-starter, friendly personality, and good team player. • Proven organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent efforts, track progress and needs of each, and provide high quality deliverables accurately and on time • Able to work well with geographically dispersed, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel. • Ability to travel up to 30-40% of the time to make onsite visits with clients, partners, counterparties and to attend tradeshows all while creating and executing on business opportunities. Essential Physical Abilities • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements. • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally. • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy. • Ability to engage with stakeholders on evening and weekends. • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc. • Could involve some lifting. Education/Experience • Minimum of 7 years’ progressive experience in a business development related role. • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in renewables preferably in an origination, development or asset management role • A Bachelor's Degree with strong academic record from a leading undergraduate program, ideally in finance, accounting, business administration, economics or engineering Working Environment Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
